Celebration of Poetry
Today Year 6/7 travelled to the Ulster Hall for the launch of the Poetry in Motion (Schools) Project 2018-2019 poetry anthology “The Colour of Light” . Over 1000 children from schools across Northern Ireland were in attendance.
The children performed their whole class poem ‘Burnt Cake’ and then Sarah Syeda read her poem ‘Who could I be?’
After all schools had performed, Sarah Crossan, the fifth Laureate na nÓg, Ireland’s laureate for children’s literature, presented the awards to this year’s winners. We were absolutely delighted when it was announced that Sarah Syeda’s “Who could I be”, won the 2019 Seamus Heaney Award for Achievement.
We could not be prouder of all our year 6/7 children today.
