Investigating Decimals in Y6
8th Nov 2024
This week in Y6, we started learning all about tenths and hundredths. We decided to get practical to figure out what they really mean! We represented numbers that had 2 decimal places with various materials. We used paper, playdough, paper plates and spaghetti. Each material made us think about the number in a different way but we now all know that ones represent wholes, tenths are ten times smaller and hundredths are ten times smaller again! This investigation and new understanding really helped us with our book work and allowed us to answer lots of different decimal questions correctly - even proving why our answers were correct!
