PSNI Community Constables Visit the Nursery

17th Apr 2025

As part of our ongoing theme, "People Who Help Us," we were delighted to welcome the PSNI community constables to our nursery classes. Their visit was both educational and engaging, providing our young learners with valuable insights into how these dedicated officers help keep us safe.

The constables explained their role in the community, emphasising their commitment to ensuring our safety. They shared important safety messages with the children, focusing on three key areas:

  1. Stranger Danger: The officers taught the children about the importance of being cautious around strangers and what to do if approached by someone they don't know. They provided practical tips on how to stay safe and reminded the children to always seek help from a trusted adult.
  2. Crossing the Road Safely: The constables demonstrated the correct way to cross the road, highlighting the importance of looking both ways and using pedestrian crossings. They encouraged the children to always hold an adult's hand when crossing the street and to be aware of their surroundings.
  3. Calling 999 in an Emergency: The officers explained the significance of the emergency number 999 and when it should be used. They reassured the children that in any situation where they feel unsafe or need urgent help, calling 999 is the right thing to do.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity for our nursery children to learn about the vital role of community constables and the various ways they help us. We are grateful to the PSNI community constables for their time and dedication in helping our young learners understand the importance of safety.
